It's also compatible with the JBL PartyBox app, so you can access a graphic EQ that lets you customize its sound to your liking. However, there's a lot of compression present at max volume that degrades audio quality when you put the volume on blast. The signature front surround effects tweeters deliver a 35% wider soundstage.

The JBL Flip 4 is made to withstand water, warmth, and overall good times that will last all night long . This brand began with the mission of providing the masses with better audio for their favorite radio stations. With all those points in mind, we’ll move this JBL speakers review into the most important part – the speakers . Now a standard for movie theaters, concerts, and radio equipment in addition to more portable avenues, this company is well-known for their quality and durable builds. You can do the same with the towers, but it is a lot more trouble than the smaller speakers, and I think it may be something like $75 each (instead of $10/ea.) for towers. If you come across any other variants of this speaker, let us know in the discussions, and we'll update the review.
About JBL
I am not convinced that this does not miss out on how a stereo pair presents the sound stage, so prefer doing both , but if I had to chose one are the other for auditioning a speaker, it would be a single speaker. There are many different wireless speakers on the market and it's difficult to choose one. The Clip 4 doesn’t include many features but it’s a rugged everyday speaker. JBL has made a real name for itself as one of the big contenders in the outdoor Bluetooth speaker market with its Flip, Clip, and Charge lines, among others.
Lorn’s music is so deep bass heavy that I think few floor-standing speakers could do it justice, but the HDI-3800s are among those few. If you want subwoofer-type dynamics from bass without actually having a subwoofer, these are speakers you need to give a close listen to. They are a perfect fit for an album like ‘Remnant,’ and even those who don’t normally listen to electronic music should give this album a chance when paired with such capable loudspeakers. It has an IPX4 rating for water resistance that certifies it to withstand small splashes of water, so you don't have to worry about it getting a bit wet when you bring the party outside with you. It's very portable in comparison to other party speakers we've tested and comes with a handle built-in, so you can easily transport it wherever you go. It gets loud and can produce a good amount of bass for its size, which is great for fans of bass-heavy music like hip-hop it EDM.
Listening Sessions
When I moved them back closer to the wall, I gained some bass reinforcement from the rear-ported design but lost a little bit of depth. Giving up a little depth for a fuller bass was a compromise that I was willing to accept. Syncing Features - Some JBL speakers have syncing features like JBL Connect+ and PartyBoost that let you play your music out of multiple speakers at once. Connect+ has you link your speaker or speakers to an app on your phone, and you can control and synchronize the connected speakers from that app.
If you’re looking for something a little more high-tech or hands-free, the Link Portable adds some fun new features to a classic JBL speaker design. This speaker is a smart hub, an internet-connected speaker that can play music directly from streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music without having to connect to a smartphone or computer. It’s set up using the Google Home app and responds to voice commands through Google Assistant. It’s also compatible with Chromecast and Apple Airplay for when you do want to stream from your devices.
What is JBL’s Return Policy?
That isn’t all that surprising given the low frequencies are collectively being produced by six 8” woofers, which has a greater combined surface area than an 18” woofer. It is a prodigious level of low-frequency output, but I never felt it was uncontrolled or poorly defined bass. As a listening experience, the ‘Annihilation’ soundtrack certainly would not be to everyone’s tastes, but it certainly is a memorable experience with speakers that have the power and fidelity of the HDI-3800s. 2.1 CHANNEL IMMERSIVE SOUND EXPERIENCE - 120W Sound bar delivers noticeably better sound than your TV alone.

His first “high end” system consisted of NAD electronics and Phase Technology speakers. During that time of modest budgets, he continued to frequent high-end audio shops around the country and even in the Akihabara district of Japan as he searched for the reference in audio equipment by which all else is measured. Now after years of auditioning, reading, and studying the audio and video industry, he has assembled a few very nice systems in his house that he can enjoy on a daily basis. While ever-evolving, he currently has a house-wide Control4 based system with 7 video zones , and 5 audio zones . The other part of the system is a full 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup with Revel C205 center, Revel F206 rears, and Origin Acoustics ceiling speakers.
The fabric covering most of the JBL GO 3 brings just the right amount of texture so it’s always easy for you to grip. The JBL GO 3 is a cheap and simple Bluetooth speaker built to handle whatever outdoor excursion you want to throw at it. It's a pretty feature-light product, but it works well, the IP67 rating means it's great for the beach or the trails.
The 12-inch woofers of the 4349s also can energize my room with bass in a way that multiple, smaller-diameter bass drivers just can’t. I understand the theoretical concept of having more nimble, smaller bass drivers in multiples, but my room just isn’t buying it. The big drivers of the JBL 4349 Studio Monitors sound as if they go at least a half octave below the 32Hz -6dB spec.
Five hours of playtime isn’t bad, but it doesn’t stack up particularly well against other Bluetooth speakers. If you don’t mind charging up every night, then the Go 3 is a durable and fun little speaker that won’t break the bank. The JBL Charge 5 is another great Bluetooth speaker that's available at a more wallet-friendly price. It's the best JBL portable speaker that we've tested, as it's more portable than the JBL PartyBox Encore Essential, and you can carry it in one hand. Its long-lasting battery life of over 14 hours makes it great for long listening sessions. It also comes with a PartyBoost button, so you can connect it to other PartyBoost-compatible JBL speakers like the JBL Xtreme 3 and the JBL Pulse 4 when you want to amplify your audio across a larger space.
For some music that could push the three 8” woofers of the HDI-3800s, I turned to the most recent album from electronic music artist Lorn that is entitled ‘Remnant.’ Lorn’s music is dubstep-esque but not traditional dubstep. He is doing his own thing that isn’t easy to pigeonhole; his music is slower in tempo and relies on heavy bass but is almost too experimental to classify as dubstep. Although it is not exactly party music, it is great to listen at loud volumes, partly on account of the very deep bass and nearly cinematic soundscapes. The music is too good and too emotive to be written off as a mere bass demo CD.
Designed to blast the beat while staying connected, this speaker will deliver on sound and quality with ease. Waterproof in design, this durable box holds power for up to 24 hours of straight playing (not that we’d recommend it, but it’s still good to know). Designed to give you more power, more playtime, and more fun, this stereo is the perfect addition to any get-together. Just call it out because this $100 speaker connects to Siri or Google with ease. Keep the good times going all night with this lasting battery and then charge it in the morning to prepare for your next night of debauchery. Completely wireless, this speaker not only connects to your music, but features speakerphone elements as well.

One aspect that weighs heavily in their favor is the furniture-grade finish. The review sample sent to us came in satin-walnut that has been stained for a more reddish color. This is a real wood veneer so, in my opinion, it would fit in with other furniture, even if the furniture is higher-end. The grilles do a good job of hiding the drivers and are a great solution for those who don’t like the utilitarian appearance of naked drivers. The grilles do make the speaker look a bit monolithic, but that may be particular to the 3800s given how large they are.

Because they’re big and distinctively shaped, it’s easy to make volume adjustments by feel. Apart from that, the speaker also has two buttons on the end opposite its strap for power and Bluetooth pairing—just tap the pairing button and once you hear the guitar strum, select the speaker in your device’s Bluetooth menu. The speaker isn’t compatible with the JBL Portable app, so what you see initially is all that you get. Second, the bass of the JBL 4349 Studio Monitors sounds much deeper than the specs would indicate. This is contrary to manufacturers who sometimes publish optimistic numbers for their speakers’ bass response.

That said, JBL tends to have a more even sound quality out-of-the-box compared to Sony's speakers. It's a portable Bluetooth speaker with a boombox-style design and a built-in carrying handle to help you bring your favorite tunes with you on-the-go. Thanks to its versatile performance, it's suitable for listening to lots of different types of audio content, whether you're at home or outside on your porch.
